Healthcare & Hospitals

Filtration selection for healthcare ventilation, critical rooms, laboratories, and general clinical environments.

Hospital controlled ventilation environment

Why filtration matters in hospitals

Hospital air systems support infection control, patient and staff comfort, and the specific pressure and cleanliness requirements of spaces such as operating theatres, isolation rooms, pharmacies, and sterile processing. Filtration is one part of a wider ventilation strategy that also depends on air-change rates, room pressurisation, and humidity control.

Typical filtration stages

General ward and public-area HVAC commonly uses a pre-filter and fine-filter combination. Operating theatres and other critical spaces typically add HEPA terminal filtration at the diffuser or in the air-handling unit, matched to the room's classification and recovery requirements. Isolation rooms may need separate exhaust-side filtration depending on the containment strategy.

Selection considerations

Selection depends on the room's classification, required air changes, pressure cascade, and the facility's validation and maintenance regime. EEC can review filter construction, media, sealing, and housing interface against a stated requirement; a reference to a hospital application here does not state that a given configuration is validated for that room type without the facility's own qualification process.
