Why filtration matters in general manufacturing

General manufacturing sites cover a wide range of duties — comfort HVAC for office and production areas, dust and fume collection at machining or fabrication stations, and process-specific filtration wherever a line generates particulate, oil mist, or fumes.

Typical filtration stages

Comfort HVAC typically uses a pre-filter and fine-filter combination sized for the building's airflow and occupancy. Machining, grinding, and welding stations commonly need local or centralised dust and fume collection, sized to the specific process and dust loading. Compressed-air systems supplying pneumatic tools or instrumentation often need their own filtration to protect equipment from oil carryover and particulate.

Selection considerations

Selection should reference the specific process's dust or fume characteristics, required airflow, duty cycle, and how the maintenance team accesses and replaces media without disrupting production.
