Oil & Gas

Coalescing, separation, hydraulic, compressed-air, and equipment-protection filtration applications.

Process facility / gas handling

Why filtration matters in oil and gas

Oil and gas operations use filtration across several distinct duties: intake air filtration for gas turbines and compressors, hydraulic and lubrication filtration for rotating equipment, and coalescing or separation filtration for produced fluids and fuel-water separation.

Typical filtration stages

Turbine and compressor intake systems typically use a weather-protection stage ahead of pre-filter and high-efficiency stages sized for the site's ambient dust and moisture conditions. Hydraulic and lubrication circuits use cartridge filtration sized to the fluid cleanliness target of the equipment manufacturer. Fuel and produced-water handling may need coalescing separators to remove entrained water or solids ahead of downstream equipment.

Selection considerations

Selection depends on ambient conditions, equipment manufacturer cleanliness targets, pressure ratings, and the site's hazardous-area classification. EEC can review filter and separator construction, media, and housing against a stated duty; this page does not state that a given configuration is certified for a specific hazardous-area zone without the site's own engineering sign-off.
